Deep Polish Article is an AI-powered content enhancement feature for your WordPress site. It takes your existing blog posts and sends them to Agility Writer's AI service to improve writing quality, readability, and engagement.

Think of it as having a professional editor & researcher review your content, but powered by AI and completed in minutes.

Content Enrichment & Research:

• Competitive Analysis: AI researches your topic online to identify content gaps and opportunities

• Strategic Content Addition: AI analyzes your existing content and intelligently adds what's missing:

Before using Deep Polish, ensure your Agility Writer plugin is properly configured:

1. Go to WordPress Admin → Agility Writer → Settings
2. Verify your API Key is connected (shows "Connected" status)
3. Set your Default Author if needed

1. Go to WordPress Admin → Agility Writer → Deep Polish Settings
2. Review the default settings (explained in detail below)
3. Click Save Changes

Key Settings to Review:

• Show Deep Polish meta box: Keep checked to enable the polish option in your post editor
• Default Language: Usually "American English"
• Default Tone of Voice: Choose what matches your brand (e.g., "Relatable Storyteller")

When editing any post, you'll see the Deep Polish Article box in the right sidebar.

1. Open your post in the WordPress editor
2. Find the Deep Polish box in the right sidebar
3. Review the settings (uses your defaults, but you can modify):
   • Language: Content language
   • Tone of Voice: Writing style (searchable dropdown)
   • Keywords: Important terms to emphasize
4. Click "Advanced Settings" if you want to modify:
   • Author Background: Your expertise and credentials to improve EEAT
   • Custom Instructions: Detailed instructions for content enhancement (see below)
   • Negative Terms: Words/phrases to avoid in the polished content
   • Point of View: First person, second person, or third person perspective
   • Readability Level: Target grade level (6th-7th grade recommended for most content)
   • Paragraph Style: Easy to Read (recommended) vs Standard formatting
   • Target Audience: Specific audience to tailor content perspective
5. Click "Deep Polish (1 Credit)" button
6. Wait 3-8 minutes for processing. You may leave this page and check back later. The system will run in the background.
7. Review the results when complete
8. Save your post to keep the changes

The Custom Instructions field is your most powerful tool for directing the AI to make specific improvements to your content. You can use it to:

• "Add a FAQ section with 5 common questions about [topic]"
• "Include a 'Common Mistakes' section with 3-4 examples"
• "Add a 'Tools and Resources' section listing helpful tools"
• "Add a comparison table between [option A] and [option B]"
• "Include troubleshooting section for common problems"

If you use SEO plugins (Yoast, RankMath, or All in One SEO), Deep Polish automatically includes your focus keywords (Ensure you set the focus keywords). No extra setup needed!

When to Use Bulk Polish

Use bulk polish when you want to enhance multiple articles with the same settings. Perfect for:

• Updating old blog posts
• Standardizing tone across content
• Preparing content for publication

Bulk Polish Process

1. Go to Posts → All Posts in WordPress admin
2. Select the posts you want to polish (checkboxes on the left)
3. Choose "Deep Polish" from the bulk actions dropdown
4. Click "Apply"
5. Configure settings in the popup modal
6. Click "Start Bulk Polish"
7. Wait 15-30 minutes for completion
8. Review results in the history page

The bulk settings apply to ALL selected posts:

• Same language and tone for consistency
• Same author background and instructions
• Same paragraph style and readability settings
• Individual post titles and content are processed separately

Important: Bulk polished content requires manual application. Unlike individual polish (which auto-applies), you must manually review and apply each bulk result.

Go to WordPress Admin → Agility Writer → Deep Polish Settings

Meta Box Control:

• Show Deep Polish meta box: Controls whether the polish option appears in post editors

Content Defaults:

• Default Language: Language for AI processing (usually American English)
• Default Tone of Voice: Your brand's writing style (e.g., "Relatable Storyteller")
• Default Author Background: Information about your brand/expertise
• Default Negative Terms: Words/phrases to avoid

Technical Settings:

• Default Point of View: Auto, First person ("I"), First person ("We"), second person ("you"), or third person
• Default Readability Level: Target complexity (6th or 7th grade is good for most blogs)
• Default Paragraph Style: Controls paragraph composition for scanability
  • Easy to Read: Creates more paragraphs with 1-3 sentences each for better readability (Default)
  • Standard: Uses traditional paragraph lengths with 2-4 sentences
• Default Audience: Who reads your content

Processing Settings:

• Job Status Check Interval: How often to check for completed jobs (default: 30 seconds)

Character Limits

Each field has limits to ensure optimal AI processing:

Form Fields:

• Keywords: 2,500 characters
• Tone of Voice: 250 characters
• Author Background: 1,000 characters
• Negative Terms: 3,000 characters
• Custom Instructions: 1,000 characters
• Audience: 250 characters

Article Content:

• Maximum: 75,000 characters per article
• Optimal: 2,000-3,000 words (20,000-40,000 characters) for best quality
• Supported: Up to 4,000-5,000 words with good results

Complete Job Visibility:

• View all polish jobs including pending and processing states
• Real-time status updates with visual indicators

Search & Filter:

• Search by post title
• Filter by status (Pending, Processing, Ready to apply, Applied, etc.)
• Sort by date, type, or status

Export & Management:

• Export complete history to CSV (all statuses included)
• Professional bulk delete with confirmation dialogs
• View processing details and job progress

For pending and processing jobs, you can:

Check Status: Click "Check Status" for processing jobs to manually refresh their status

• Updates job status without reloading the entire page
• Shows success notice if status changes (e.g., processing → ready to apply)
• Displays info notice if job is still processing

Status Indicators:

• Pending: Job queued but not yet started
• Processing...: Job actively being processed (shows animated spinner)
• Ready to apply: Job completed successfully, content available for review

For completed polish jobs, you can:

View Content: Click "View Content" to see the polished content in a popup modal 

Reapply Content: Click "Reapply Content" to restore polished content to your editor 

Compare Content: Click "Compare Content" to see current vs. polished content side-by-side

Copy Content: In both preview and comparison modals, use the "Copy" button to copy formatted content to your clipboard

This is especially useful if you:

• Accidentally reverted changes
• Want to compare current vs. polished content side-by-side
• Need to restore previous polish results
• Want to copy content to Google Docs with formatting preserved
• Need clean text for other applications
• Want to analyze what changes the AI made to your content

Q: Why don't I see the Deep Polish meta box in my post editor? 

A: Check that Agility Writer → Deep Polish Settings → "Show Deep Polish meta box" is checked. Try refreshing your post editor page if needed.

Q: Why is the Deep Polish button grayed out? 

A: Make sure your post has content (empty posts can't be polished) and you're using Block Editor or Classic Editor (not a page builder like Elementor or Divi).

Q: My polish is taking longer than 6 minutes. Is this normal? 

A: Yes, complex content may take longer. Check WordPress Admin → Agility Writer → Deep Polish History for status updates. Try refreshing the page to see if results appeared.

Q: My bulk polish seems stuck. What should I do? 

A: Check the History page for individual post statuses. Bulk jobs normally take 15-30 minutes total. Try refreshing the posts table to see updated statuses.

Q: What does the "Attempt Block Recovery" button mean? 

A: AI occasionally returns content that fail block validation in Gutenberg. Simply click the "Attempt Block Recovery" button to resolve the issue.

Q: Why are some citations/links missing after polishing? 

A: Long articles with many numbered citations may lose some links during processing. The AI prioritizes content quality over preserving all citation links. Review and manually restore important citations after polishing.

Q: Why can't I polish articles over 75,000 characters? 

A: AI struggles to maintain quality with very long content. Our system handles 4-5k words, but best results occur with 2-3k word articles. Split long articles into multiple posts for better polish quality.

Q: I see pending/processing jobs in history but can't view or reapply them. Is this normal? 

A: Yes, this is expected. Pending and processing jobs don't have polished content yet, so "View Content" and "Reapply Content" actions aren't available. Use "Check Status" for processing jobs to check for completion.

Q: How do I check if my processing job is complete? 

A: For processing jobs, click the "Check Status" link in the history table. If the status has changed (e.g., to "Ready to apply"), the page will refresh and show the new content actions.

Q: Why don't I see pending jobs in my history? 

A: If you don't see pending jobs, they may have been processed already. The history page now shows all job statuses. Try refreshing the page or checking if the jobs appear with "Processing..." or "Ready to apply" status.

Q: The copy button doesn't preserve formatting in my application. Why? 

A: The copy function provides both rich text (HTML) and plain text versions. Most modern applications like Google Docs, MS Word, and Outlook will use the rich text version automatically. If your application only shows plain text, it may not support rich text pasting. The plain text version will still have proper paragraph spacing with excessive line breaks removed.

"Content too long (over 75,000 characters)"

• Solution: Split your content into multiple posts for better polish quality
• Tip: Best results occur with 2-3k word articles; see character limit explanation above

"API connection failed"

• Check: Agility Writer → Settings → API Key is "Connected"
• Try: Click "Disconnect" then reconnect with your API key

"Insufficient credits"

• Solution: Purchase more credits in your Agility Writer account
• Check: Each polish costs 1 credit
